Cooking Techniques for the Perfect Steak

Jamie Oliver MBE, a well known chef across the United Kingdom and the United States. He publishes plenty of cookbooks and Blogs and he aims to change unhealthy diets and poor cooking habits in national schools. One of his recipes is how to cook a perfect steak.

When buying steaks, look for steak with fine texture and firm to touch, the color should be cherry red, not deep red. The best thickness of the steak is 1-1.5 inch.
Prepare the steak 30 minutes out from the freezer.

Sear the steaks in a heavy frying pan over medium – high heat with 2 table spoons olive oil for 5-6 minutes per side.

ShopEasyPro recommends you to use a kitchen thermometer rather than a table timer. You can test for the accurate doneness:

Input a unit of AAA size battery inside the kitchen thermometer.
Press “Meat” button to select the beef, veal, lamb, pork, chicken and turkey.
Press “Taste” button to select the desired meat doneness Well DONE, MEDIUM, MEDIUM RARE and RARE.
These taste levels will be selectively indicated according to specific type of meats.

For instance, if you choose beef, the result will come out as:

Well done: 77C
Medium: 71C
Medium: 63C
Rare: 60C

Insert the probe head halfway (at least 1/2 deep) into the thickest part of the meat.
Allow approximately 10 to 15 seconds for the probe head to get accurate temperature reading.
Once the pre-determined doneness level of the meat is reached, the cooking thermometer will beep and the thermo temperature reading will blink.
Press “Meat” or “Taste” button to stop beeping and blinking.
Two types of kitchen thermometer are the necessary cooking tools for you to follow the receipts from Jamie Oliver’s Blog or cookbook.
